Mauran ManogaranMauran has been playing the Miruthangam for the past fifteen years under the tutelage of Sri Gowrishanker Balachandran and has accomplished himself in the art at the senior level. He also received training from his Guru’s Guru, Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam. Mauran completed his Miruthanga Arangetram in March 2001, and has passed Teacher’s Grade examination conducted by the Thamil Isai Kalaa Manram, Ontario in 2005.
Mauran has given many public performances at various concerts, television programs such as TVI, Temple, school, etc all over North America, Europe and India. He has accompanied artists such as Smt. Raji Gopalakrishnan, Thiruvarur Girish, Vittal Ramamurthy, Smt. Geetha Rajasekhar, and many others. He has earned praise and accolades for these performances and has also been given numerous merit certificates and plaques. He has also served as an examiner for Miruthanga examinations in Montreal and Toronto. He also teaches Miruthangam to students in the Scarborough and downtown area. He is very active with local organizations such as Thamil Isai Kalaa Manram and Bharathi Kala Manram, organizations that promote Carnatic music locally in Toronto and around North America. He is also a founding member of the Carnatic Youth Society of Canada, an organization that was created by the local youth of Toronto to encourage and develop the South Indian classical arts in Canada amongst the plethora of youth who learn and practice it. The group has been doing very well and is developing quite steadily, bringing all the youth together in this musical society. In this year’s music season in Chennai, Mauran had the privilege of performing in concerts in various sabhas in the city. These opportunities allowed him to showcase his talents and abilities to a new audience, who were very appreciative of his performances. He also had the opportunity to perform concerts in Pondicherry and Thiruvaiyaru, concerts that were well received by audiences who took the performances in. |
