Vaaraki Wijayaraj
Born & brought up in Toronto, Vaaraki has always had a passion for her culture, religion and the various arts. Her journey as a Carnatic vocalist began at the tender age of 5. Trained vocally by Suswara Sukhalaya Smt Raji Gopalakrishnan, Vaaraki performed her vocal debut in August of 2008. Since then she has had the opportunity to sing at many sabhas in Chennai's December Music Seasons such as Mylapore Fine Arts, Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Brahma Gana Sabha and Naada Inbam as well as the prestigious Tiruvayaru Tyagaraja Aradhana as well as many organizations in Canada, USA and UK such as Bharathi Kala Manram, the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana and Ratnam Foundation. For her concert in the December 2009 Music Season, Shri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha awarded Vaaraki the honour of "Best Performer" which was presented by Dr M. Balamuralikrishna. Vaaraki was also awarded the title "Yuva Kala Vipanchee" from Vipanchee Fine Arts by Dr M. Balamuralikrishna. Vaaraki has also been singing for various dance arangetrams and performances in both Canada and the USA, for many prestigious dance companies such as inDance as well as teaching this divine art to the next generation for the past 7 years. Academically, Vaaraki is a BSc Honors Graduate from the University of Toronto and is currently a Masters degree in Mental Health Psychology online with the University of Liverpool in the UK while working as a lecturer at Centennial College https://soundcloud.com/sangeethapriye/keechu-vaaraki |
